Transcribe a video

or drop an MP4 or WebM here (MOV in Chrome and Safari)

Only the sound is sent, in pieces, and we don't store it. Copy or download the transcript before you leave.

Three steps

How to get a TikTok transcript

  1. 01

    Save the TikTok

In the TikTok app, open the video, tap Share, then Save video. It goes to your phone's gallery.

  2. 02

    Upload it here

Choose the saved video above. Only its sound is sent; the video stays on your phone.

  3. 03

    Copy the text

Copy the transcript, or download it as text, SRT or VTT for captions.

When there's no Save video button

Creators can turn downloads off for their videos, and then Save video is missing from the Share menu. Private accounts and accounts of users under 16 have downloads off by default. App menus move between versions, so the button may sit under a slightly different name.

Without a download, use your phone's screen recorder while the TikTok plays with the sound on, then upload the recording. For your own videos, upload the original file from your camera roll: it has better sound than the downloaded copy.

Why upload instead of pasting a link

TikTok doesn't publish captions for other sites to read, and its pages block automated access. Tools that take a link either break often or download the video on their servers. Uploading the file you saved works whenever your browser can play it, and we keep nothing: see the privacy policy.

What to do with the transcript

  • Write captions and on-screen text for your next video.
  • Turn a series of TikToks into a blog post or a script.
  • Quote a creator accurately, with the time it was said.
  • Add SRT subtitles when you post the same clip on YouTube.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

Can I get a TikTok transcript from a link?

Not on this site. TikTok blocks automated access to its pages, so we work from the video file instead: save it with Share, then Save video, and upload it.

How do I save a TikTok to upload?

Open the video, tap Share, then Save video. If that's missing, the creator turned downloads off; screen-record the video with sound instead.

Is it free?

Yes, up to a daily limit: 10 free minutes a day without an account, 30 with a free Google sign-in. Free minutes reset at midnight UTC. On a very busy day the site's free capacity can run out. Paid credits for more minutes and longer files are coming soon. See pricing.

Which languages does it understand?

Dozens, including English, Spanish, Chinese, Hindi, Portuguese, French, German and Japanese. It detects the language on its own; if it guesses wrong, pick the language before you start.

Are my files private?

No. Your browser pulls the sound out of the file and sends it to us in pieces. We pass each piece to our speech recognition provider and send the text back to you. We store neither the audio nor the transcript. The provider doesn't keep it by default, though it may keep logs for up to 30 days to look into errors or abuse. See the privacy policy.
